In a visionary effort to empower vocational students and enhance their training, Emali Dedicated Children’s Agency (EDCA) donated overlocking sewing machines to students enrolled in Garment Making (Tailoring and DressMaking) courses at SpringHill Kwakakulu CTTI, a technical training institute located in Emali-Mulala Ward.
The institution, experiencing rapid growth with each intake, faces a significant challenge of limited resources. The infusion of these sewing machines addresses this challenge by alleviating overcrowding in classrooms and facilitating practical skill development among students.
“We have encountered difficulties in acquiring adequate equipment and machines for training due to our institution’s rapid growth and increasing student numbers,” remarked the director.
Echoing this sentiment, Sheila Musyoka, a fashion design student, highlighted the potential of the machines to streamline garment stitching processes and alleviate overcrowding within the learning environment.
The donation of sewing machines serves a dual purpose: fostering hands-on learning experiences and nurturing entrepreneurship among students. These machines symbolize a gateway for translating theoretical knowledge into tangible creations, thereby promoting creativity and self-reliance.
“The machines we received today will significantly enhance the quality of our training and better prepare our students for the job market,” emphasized Nicodemus Mbwika, the Board Chairperson of Springhill Kwakakulu CTTI.
